The Department of Preservation
The main task of the Department of Preservation is to preserve the physical collections of The Royal Library in the best possible condition, so they can be used today as well as in the future.
The collections encompass a wide range of materials:
- Sheet music
- Photographic prints
- Photographic negatives
The staff members at the Department of Preservation are paper conservators and bookbinders who possess together a comprehensive expert knowledge regarding the types of materials mentioned above.
The Department of Preservation undertakes conservation, restoration and packing of single objects as well as general preventive conservation.
The Department of Preservation also undertakes advisory tasks for institutions and for private persons. The department is available for conservation and preservation work for private customers.
