Diamond Ensemble The young Palestinian-Israeli pianist Saleem Abboud Ashkar, who, among others, is known for his collaboration with Daniel Barenboim, is becoming a very much sought-after pianist on the international scene. Saleem Abboud Ashkar was born in 1976 and raised in Nazareth. Having attended school for a couple of years, he heard a piano for the first time ever, and knew instantly that he had to play this instrument. Hard work and musicality led him to study first at the Royal Academy of Music in London and then at the Music Academy in Hanover. Last winter was the first time he performed at the Queen's Hall with a persuasive solo concert, where he played Beethoven and Schumann, and when he was asked if he would come again, this time to play chamber music with the Royal Library’s house ensemble his answer was: Yes, I’d be delighted! It is therefore with great pleasure that Diamond Ensemble can present Saleem Abboud Ashkar playing works by Mozart and Beethoven. Saleem Abboud Ashkar also works with violinist Nikolaj Znaider; they have, among others, given recitals in New York, Milan and Vienna. Sponsors: Siemens, Beckett-Fund, Oticon Fund |
