International Author's Stage

Despite being only 32 years of age the career of American novelist Jonathan Safran Foer has developed at lightning speed and has made him one of the most recognised authors of his time.

The wunderkind from Washington had a massive breakthrough with the novels Everything Is Illuminated (2002) and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2005) that were unanimously praised by the critics and brought him to the top of bestseller lists worldwide. Literary heavyweights such as Salman Rushdie and John Updike have been quick to proclaim Foer the new shining star of literature.

Now you can experience Jonathan Safran Foer on stage in The Black Diamond, when he pays a visit to International Author's Stage with his new book, Eating Animals.

In Eating Animals Foer changes generic track. Foer has written a debate book that plunges into a existential and cultural investigation of human meat consumption and takes a closer look at the ethical and moral problems behind it.

Why do humans eat animals at all? Can (and should) man keep eating meat in these times of climate concern?
